Cabitnongan is a barangay adjacent to the eastern boundary of Brgy. Poblacion East. It is bounded on the north by Ambayaoan River; on the east by Brgy. Calaocan; and on the south by Brgy. Nining and with an approximate land area of 107 hectares . It was formerly a sitio of Barrio Sta. Maria in the early 60s. The first leader as Teniente del Barrio was the late Roman Suyat, Sr.

The barangay was earlier called Cabuaan due to the abundance of the Betel nut palm tree (bua) in the locality but most of its inhabitants preferred later to call the place of Cabitnongan . A name derived from “Bitnong” a local softwood species that also grow abundantly and predominantly along its creeks and riverbanks . The Bitnong trees are very important to the people as they make into ropes for their animals and farm use .

The place is traversed by four irrigation creeks namely: Siblot ,IIi, Santol and Salomague Creeks which provide that much needed water to irrigate its very rich fertile soil. Hence, Cabitnongan is naturally an agricultural and rural community . Likewise ,the barangay exterior is also traversed by the national road which is asphalt –paved and provides faster transport of people and commodities.

Since the early 80’s the month of May to July is the planting season for string beans

(sitaw) in Cabitnongan that the barangay much supplies of the sitaw needs of Metro Manila. The dawns of the month of October are busy and alive with the rythmic sounds echoing up to distant barangays as burned malagkit rice are pounded to produce the well - loved pinipig called “Dudumen “, which the barangay is also noted for.

At  present , the barangay is a destination of visitors , picnickers and cockfight afficionados due to the location of the Esperanza Garden Resort and the San Nicolas Cockfight Arena. Prominent families in Cabitnongan are the Del Rosario , Acosta , Mejia , Camizola , Sulio , Jamon, Noto , Villanueva , Enrico , Insulia , Ruiz and Asuncion among others.
