The present location of Barangay Malilion is the original site of Barangay San Isidro in the early 30’s . It was said that the first wave of inhabitants came from Vigan , Ilocos Sur with Leocadio Suyat as their leaders.

After settling in the vicinity for quite sometime it was the concern of all to put up a school where children will be educated . The Suyat family donated a parcel of land for the school building constructed thru self help as expected , there was a steady growth of population among the inhabitants soon they found out that it can no longer accommodate the schoolers from Grades I to VI . The elders proposed for transfer of the school building to a wide vacant lot north of Malilion owned by Andres Laureta , Serquiña, Lucas and Martinez. When the people consented, they transferred the school building to its new location .They brought along with them the signboard of the school that carried the name San Isidro .

The people found out later that pupils , walked for about two kilometers or more daily routime . They proposed to reopen the school right in its former site and succeeded in this venture but they didn’t succeed in using back the name of the barangay.

To how the barangay got its name is shrouded by mystery . One backgrounder however told us that during the celebration of the flores de mayo invited bands usually practiced under the shade of a big molave tree at the entrance of the barangay . these band members committed errors regularly , a stud they didn’t understand ,hence the idea of “mali-mali” and later on developed into what is called “Malilion.”

Presently , the road going to Barangay Malilion is a construction of the Sabangan Bridge , a joint project of the Dept. of Public Works & Highways and the Municipality of San Nicolas . The bridge will soon be viable as a gateway to San Roque Dam Site and going to the northern part of San Nicolas.
